London: Freida Pinto, who shot to fame after starring in Oscar-winning British film Slumdog Millionaire has emerged as the highest paid Indian actress in Bollywood, even overtaking Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif.The earnings of 24-year-old Pinto has crossed 2 million pounds, overtaking Bollywood stars like Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Aishwarya Rai. If the report is correct, the progress of the one-film actress is phenomenal.
“Freida can’t be compared to Aishwarya, because we’re not pitching her as an Indian girl in international films. Freida is a true global face,” said Anirban Das, CEO of her management company. The model-turned actress has already been signed for American director Woody Allen’s next film, to be filmed in London this summer. She will co-star with Josh Brolin and Sir Anthony Hopkins in the film.
She has also signed top director Julian Schnabel’s new film based in Israel and Palestinian Authority. She has started shooting for Miral, based on the book by Palestinian-Italian writer Jebreal.
